US govt shutdown
What the hell US? I don't like having to explain to the other volunteers (Indians, Singapore citizens, French) why we have enough money to think of bombing Syria but not enough to keep our country running. Get it together!
Dear Monkey, I really love your pictures. You look good "trimmed". Its a nice look for you. Explain to your friends that the US Government has been debt financed for quite awhile now. The shut down is because our legislators argue about how much more to finance moving forward; so they are making it painful for the population hoping that it will get a majority of people to lean on their representatives to settle the dispute. This time though, the Executive branch is sticking its nose in the process with inflamatory rhetoric messing it up even more. The march to Socialism. Love, A Monkey's Uncle
From the other side (of the argument and guessing by last name country), I would say that while I agree with most of David's analysis...save the last 2 sentences. In their place, I would substitute the following: This time though, the tea party decided to try to pursue policy goals (namely undoing Obamacare after it had been vetted by all 3 branches of federal government...apparently, they feel 3 branches of checks/balances isn't enough for them) as part of creating a budget and expected everyone to be ok with that and not "stick their nose in the process"...well, except for the Senate's role in having to also pass it and the Executive's role in having to sign it...how dare those darn socialists try and execute their responsibilities under our representative, checks-and-balances based democracy???...and by socialists, I mean making sure everyone has health care and everyone takes responsibility for not shifting their health care costs on others...
oh, one other note: the greatest problem so far with Obamacare is the website where people - FROM STATES WHICH SHIRKED THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO CREATE A STATE FOCUSED ONE - can go, set up an account, shop plans and enroll. Huge issues and a major ball dropped by the Administration, no doubt. Coming from a business IT consulting background, you NEVER roll-out the full thing the first time. ALWAYS pilot first to work out the bugs. All that said, I used the California site Covered California and the whole process (background check, plan shopping and all) took less than 30 minutes. I LOVE living in a progressive state. You do know the root of the word "progressive", don't you? (-;

Haha thanks for the feedback.
ReplyDeleteNow I am wondering why the heck the stock market is so high, even when we can't pay our bills. Must learn more, don't understand...
